Auditions
The Audition fee is $30. Please click on the link below for a list of audition sits for 2010. Auditions at VSA are by appointment only. Video auditions are accepted all year.
Audition Photograph Requirements
You must submit two photographs. Black and white or color is acceptable. Photographs should be taken in following proper classroom attire:
Ladies: pink tights and black leotard and pointe shoes.
Gentlemen: white fitted top, black tights, white socks and white shoes.
Include one pose in first arabesque and one pose in tendu a la seconde.
Audition By Video
If unable to audition in person, audition by video, DVD or VHS, will be accepted. However, auditioning at an official audition site or at VSA is strongly encouraged.
Video auditions need to be in DVD or VHS format.
At the beginning of the video, please stand facing the camera and give your name, age and grade in school. State which program you are auditioning for.
The video should include 5 minutes of classical barre and 5 minutes of classical centre work. Ladies should demonstrate en pointe the following: releves, echappes, pirouttes, petit allegro and travelling turns.
Send the DVD or VHS and the completed audition form to the attention of the Admissions Office with the $30.00 audition fee. Check should be made payable to Virginia School of the Arts.
